What made monastic breweries different was that the monks brought patience, process and dedication to the practice of brewing. At Monkless, there are no monks, but this is our devotion. We practice patience to perfection in our brewing process, focus exclusively on Belgian-style ales and believe we live in a benevolent universe.

Opened in October 2014 in Santa Catarina, Brazil, Lohn Bier is a family-owned brewery, born of one of its members' hobby to produce craft beers. From the German surname Lohn, from the matriarch of the family, comes the German tradition and excellence, which reflects in the daily life of the company and the superior quality of its beers.

Raised Grain Brewing

Milwaukee's own Lakefront Brewery Inc. started in 1987. The industrious and inventive craft brewery located on the Milwaukee River has become a Milwaukee landmark. According to Brewery President Russ Klisch, the whole brewery started with his brother, Jim. Near his birthday, Jim expressed interest in beer making, and Russ humored him by giving him a homebrewing book. To Russ’ surprise, Jim read the book, and brewed a beer. By Russ’ account, Jim was no gourmet cook, but he made a pretty good beer. Impressed, Russ decided he could brew one better. In short, sibling rivalry and common interest lead both brothers to begin entering homebrewing contests and winning awards. It wasn’t long before family and friends encouraged them to turn their hobby into a business.

Raised Grain Brewing Co. was born when two local doctors with a passion for homebrewing met a former professional cyclist and local entrepreneur over some beers, of course. They were drinking a unique red IIPA that the doctors had brewed as a compromise to an argument that they had over which country, Belgium or Scotland, made better beer. They were so impressed by the beer that they decided they needed to open a brewery to share it with the world.
